There is no place like….

HOME…what does it mean to you?

Click your ‘ruby red’ heels together..

Ruby Red Slippers

and magically, you are transported to a place known as ‘HOME’

‘Home is the place that goes where you go, yet it welcomes you upon your return.

Like a dog overjoyed at the door. We've missed you is what you hear, no matter how long you've been gone.’

To me, home is a place we go at the end of a long day..

Somewhere to let the trials and tribulations of working be left on the other side of the door…

the wagging tail of the dog greets matter how long we have been gone…

the kitty?..well, he is a cat..need I say more..

The four walls that keep us safe from  the weather are the sanctuary that keeps us warm and dry..

  • A place to cook our meals

  • put our feet up on the coffee table

  • wear our comfy cozy ‘happy pants’

  • and rest our weary heads at the end of a long day

Home is a place to welcome family and friends..

there may be..

  • laundry to do..
  • dishes to wash
  • floors to vacuum
  • and toilets to clean..

but it is home still the same..

newspapers on the table..bills on the counter..dust bunnies and dog toys abound..

home-iswhere-your-heart-is2 matter where you live.. or hang your hat.. or lay your head at night..

Be it in a big mansion on the hill..

a small bungalow in the suburbs..

a condo in the city..

or even in your ‘dream RV’..

..and may the road you travel always lead you there…

..and may there always be somewhere there to say..’Welcome home! I have missed you’

Three little rivets missing from a fender and an opportunity came upon us….

I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason…and sometimes you just have to seize the opportunity and go for  it…CARPE DIEM…

Sometimes it is a deal that just can’t be passed up…

Weigh all the options:

  • gas mileage
  • engine
  • transmission

and go for it…that is the best thing about being an adult!!!

Are we happy with our decision?….you betcha..

  • no coercion
  • no regrets
  • no buyer’s remorse
  • no explaining our new  ‘crush’

At first we thought it looked like..

  • a pylon..
  • a pumpkin.
  • a safety vest

…then someone called it the ‘General Lee’..

But it is our ‘Freeway’…a 2012 Jeep Sahara Wrangler Unlimited…

..and the color is like a ‘ray of sunshine’…

2012_03_24 onto our Sunny Saturday…

…off to the Sea to Sky Highway and the town of Squamish..

..the views were amazing..the mountains capped with snow..the blue sky…one couldn’t ask for a more perfect day!!… was perfect for us..not so perfect for Tucker…our stop for lunch was Alice Lake Provincial Park….and at the picnic area we came upon this sign…

IMG_7890 dogs allowed at the lake?..

IMG_7888 it was a picnic in the parking lot….tied to the bumper for our golden boy…

poor Tucker..

..not to worry ‘little buddy’…after we are done our ‘egg sandwiches’ we  will find a place for  you to go swimming!!

..heading back towards home…

we stopped at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver…there is  a great dog area…with lots of dogs to play with…

Tucker was so happy!..our ‘boy’ really does smile!!…

..he has just spotted the water!!

..time for a swim in Capilano River..

IMG_7901_1 as our Saturday draws to a close..we are glad that Spring has finally arrived…

Happy Hour on the sundeck rounds out our picture perfect day!!..Cheers!

The color orange?

Black, white , red, green, blue, brown, purple or yellow are all just fine colors but….

I love the smell of oranges..and the actual color reminds me of Fall…my favourite time of year…

  • the leaves
  • pumpkins
  • Halloween
  • Thanksgiving
  • the red, yellow and orange colours..

Anyway back to topic at hand…I ‘googled’ orange and this is what I found..

  • Orange is a power color.
  • It is one of the healing colors.
  • It is said to increase the craving for food.

“is candy corn a ‘food   item’?”

  • It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity.
  • Orange means vitality with endurance.

People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere.

Orange Energy:

While red is associated with fiery heat, orange is associated with the benign warmth of the sun.

A dynamic color to be sure, orange offers a more thoughtful control than explosive red.

Curiosity is a ‘driving’ characteristic of orange, and with it comes exploration of new’ things.

Put some orange in your life when you want:

  • to spice things up when you feel like time is dragging
  • to become more involved in something
  • to increase creativity
  • relief from things becoming too serious

and life is most definitely too serious…time for some fun…

  • Wearing orange during times of stress, or shock can help to balance your emotions.
  • It can bring about the willingness to embrace new ideas with enjoyment and a sense of exploration and creative play.

Maybe we need  to find some ‘orange’?..I am all for embracing a new sense of exploration and some new ideas?

What is your ‘color’?..and what does it mean to you?

A spring in our step…

Spring has sprung..well, maybe?..

a week ago this was our view..

and now today…it is still a bit chilly outside but the trees are budding and crocuses are coming out from the cold..

..spring is the start of new beginnings..

2012_03_204 is a time for birds to be chirping and flowers to be blooming…

..also time for some spring cleaning…that’s always a fun chore…

but first..I have a book I want to read…

Donna and Russ  had a book give-away on their blog a couple of weeks ago..they drew a name  from the list of commenters  but I was not the lucky winner..Bob and Sue were..

A few days later Donna emailed me to say that Russ had found another copy of the book and would I like to read it??

Donna put it in the mail and it arrived today…

2012_03_201 needless to say I am going to be kicking ‘Tucker' out of his chair..

so I can settle in and enjoy ‘The art of racing in the rain’..

thanks for sharing the book Donna..I will be sure to  ‘pay it forward’ when I am done..

and we are the  ‘rain experts’ here on the west coast..but we are hoping to find a ‘ray of sunshine’ this weekend!! stay tuned..

I am sure the skies will be a little bit brighter as Spring 2012 progresses…

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day…

‘Irish Blessings:

May the road rise up to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rain fall soft upon your fields,
    and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

May you have: A world of wishes at your command. God and his angels close to hand. Friends and family their love to impart, and Irish blessings deep in your heart!

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and the road downhill all the way to your door.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, and may good luck pursue you each morning and night.

May your blessings outnumber the Shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go. ‘

in the blink of an eye…

I go through life wondering to myself what is deemed to be ‘important’?..

  • good health?
  • happiness?
  • friends and family?
  • money?

Can money buy happiness?

Can money buy  good health?

Can money  buy friends??

..that would be a resounding ‘No’…

Sure I have my idiosyncrasies..

as to what I deem to be important in my day to day life..

  • the bed  needs to be made
  • the cushions on the couch need to be perfect
  • the laundry
  • groceries
  • the cheque book balanced
  • the dishes done

now before you judge..I never claimed to be what is deemed ‘normal?..

  • I stay up too late
  • spend too much time on the computer
  • I like to be organized
  • the towels need to be folded a certain way
  • I don’t like making left hand turns
  • I don’t like to be late
  • the kitchen sink needs to be shiny
  • the pillow cases are ironed

am I obsessive compulsive?..oh sure maybe a bit..

but in the whole grand scheme of things do any of these little idiosyncrasies really matter?..

If it got to the point that I couldn’t accomplish all of these tasks, would the world come to an end???..OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA where is all this going you may be wondering?..well phone call..and a word that we all never want to hear….the dreaded ‘C’..

..a lady I work with diagnosed with a ‘mass on her lung’..yes it is ‘C’..she told me it was the ‘good kind to have’ Chemo or radiation will be necessary..

For that I am most grateful…surgery is on her agenda…that and living a long and happy life..

She has a positive attitude and that will go far in her recovery process.. from this day forward..all the aches and pains that go along with getting older will not prevent me from living each day to the fullest…2009199161910137

So get out there and live your life..I plan to….because things can change in the ‘blink of an eye’…

Aww nuts…

How on earth does someone do a recap of the past seven months?… The last post that I did was on May forward to today, December 3...
