Can you go ‘home again?’

The final trip to Monck Park for the year was done this past weekend..

We had one last ‘thing’ we had to do..that was bring our ‘white box’ , home again..

We arrived just after 7 pm on Friday night..

We had an impromptu get together with our fellow PFO’s..wine and snacks and lots of laughs..

We were a tad noisy and if we had been regular campers we would have been in ‘big trouble’…

Bright and early on Saturday morning we were hooked up and ready to roll..

It was time to vacate our ‘home spot’..we have been here long enough..

the sun was just coming up..

..the gatehouse was ‘quiet’..

..we took it slow along the route  out of the park..there are many bumps and cattle-guards along the way..no need to rattle anything loose in the trailer..

..up Hamilton Hill..heading towards the town of Princeton..

and before long we stopped at the rest area along 5A..

..we stopped in Princeton for a quick breakfast and within an hour or so we were pulling into our ‘home base’..Keremeos..

I guess you can go ‘home again?’..

..unhooked and settled in within an hour or so..

Next task on the agenda was to get the Satellite dish hooked up..

It took a bit of adjusting but finally we got a signal..

Doug was beginning to wonder if he would ever hit that ‘darn thing’!

..our view is the same..

just a few grapes on the vine..

and a some horses…

..our afternoon was spent doing a few chores, groceries, dinner ..just another day in Keremeos..

Sunday morning was the usual breakfast..

french toast and sausages..

and before long we were packed up and heading towards our ‘real home’..

Our route this weekend was a mere 776 kilometers..seemed more like 900 miles..

..are we glad to be ‘home?’..not really but the reality is we have responsibilities..at least for now..

say it isn’t so..

..yes, it is....our time this summer at Monck Park is done..52 days in a row of living in just under 250 square feet is complete..

The weather changed drastically this ‘last’ week..gone were the warm mornings..

the need for the heater to take the chill off..

time to do some baking..

the ‘last’ long weekend..at Nicola Lake..

and the ‘last’ day of reservations for the park..58 reserved campers  coming in to enjoy the ‘last’ long weekend before September arrives…

but the park was full..all 120 sites plus some in the overflow..

..the uniforms will be washed and folded for one ‘last’ time..

We turned them in, along with our ‘keys to the ‘kingdom’ on Sunday morning..

We said our good byes to our co-workers..see you next time!!

and for the first time in 52 days we left the park together and headed towards home..minus the trailer..

The ‘white box’ will feel the wind next weekend, as we take it ‘home to Keremeos’.

Fast forward to this evening..and the ‘boys’ have both settled in..

Oliver on the back of the couch…

..and Tucker sprawled on the bed..

..the fun memories of this summer are all but forgotten for the ‘golden boy’….it’s like we never were gone?

Now that I have been home for a day, I have come to the realization living in 250 square feet really is quite easy!!

The only things I missed other than my husband, and the cat were:

1. the water pressure

2. the thick toilet paper

3. and the endless supply of internet

..so as our summer work camping adventure draws to a close ..it was an experience and we are glad we had the opportunity..it was a good preparation for our next ‘life’.

thank for riding along with us this summer…back to work for me tomorrow..where has the time gone?

Aww nuts…

How on earth does someone do a recap of the past seven months?… The last post that I did was on May 16..fast forward to today, December 3...
